In this sense, co-operatives are an effective tool for the sustainable development of the communities in which they work. This 7th Principle was first stated as a separate and distinct Co-operative Principle in 1995 and supports activities consistent with the 5th Principle: education, training and information, and the 6th Principle: Co-operation among Co-operatives. The ultimate success of the Co-op is based on our ability to support the community to develop in a sustainable way.

The Working Board is for people ready to roll-up-your-sleeves, spreadsheets-and-hardhats kind of commitment. It is hands-on work that gets our store built, launched, and ready to serve—from securing funding like grant writing and fundraising, participating in community outreach, educating, data entry, phone calling, and more. It requires a few hours a week to commit to something meaningful? Is this you?

As the finishing touches come together and opening day draws near, we salute our fellow Co-op with deep admiration. We need to staff our information tables at the following Farmers Markets:

Thursdays: 8am to Noon - 4th Street (Cherry & 4th Street)

Thursdays: 3pm to 7pm - Bixby Knolls (46th Street & Atlantic)

Fridays: 10am to 2pm - Downtown Long Beach 300 N. Promenade

Sundays: 9am to 2pm - Alamitos Bay Marina (205 N. Marina Dr.)

Volunteer training will be provided along with the supplies and items you will need to be successful.
