About Aprilla

Aprilla Oliver - LBGC Gifted Share.PNG

My name is Aprilla Oliver. I am a Los Angeles native to south central Los Angeles. SPA region 6 to be exact. I grew up in a food deserted area as a child, being apart of the grocery-co op is an amazing opportunity.

I am passionate about nutrition! I am currently attending LBCC to complete my nutrition and dietetic assistant certificate. I also attend CSULA and plan to graduate Fall 2022 with my B.S. in Nutrition and Dietician. (My voice and facial expressions literally become animated with excitement when I discuss anything about food and nutrition.)

I look forward in helping the community by providing awareness and educating about food choices as a R.D.N. in the near future.

What is your motivation?

My motivation stems from my own experiences while growing up in poverty, living away from my family while in the foster system, and witnessing my family members suffer from disease due to chronic metabolic disease. My strength and determination comes from my families support and encouragement.

What about LBGC are you looking forward to seeing?

The most exciting thing about being a part of this grocery co-op is to have the chance be a voice for the community members of Long Beach. It would be delightful to provide residents with access to fresh produce at a lower cost than expected.

This co-op will help so many residents who are facing issues with access to fresh produce due to transportation and or cost concerns.
